Harry Ramsdens (from now on HR) is a famous fish & chip shop in the UK. Apparently, HR also has fish & chip shops abroad too. Good business sense, ambition and marketing is what sets HR from the rest, I guess, because I have never noticed anything special about their food compared to any other place. Not that it isn’t good, it can be, but your local fish & chip shop might turn out to be even better.
Unfortunately, my recent experiences with the Gateshead Restaurant/Takeaway (located near the Metro Centre) is far from good.
The last time I was there, I experienced the worst customer service so far:
– Incredibly rude and condescending attitude, she came across more like she wanted to say "I want to kill you, get the hell out of here"
– Short changed
– No coke (it was part of the meal deal)
– Wrong meal (was meant to be a chicken-filet sandwich, rather than 2 pieces of chicken in batter)
The previous visit was poor in terms of customer service, although not quite as bad as the above experience.
Definitely not a place I’d return to. Just 20 seconds walk away is Greggs where the food is good, the service is good and the prices are a whole lot more reasonable.
Before the refurbishment, the staff were a lot less hostile and at least managed to serve the correct meals, but since then it’s gone far down hill. I wouldn’t even recommend the place to my worst enemy.
