Nice One, Scholes! (With Video Of The Goal)

The magic of Paul Scholes won Man Utd a match which has sent them to the Champions League Final for the first time in nine years. A match which is set to be an exciting all English affair as United will face either Liverpool or Chelsea (this will be decided tomorrow - 30/04/2008).

Although Barcelona largely dominated the match, Manchester United’s defending was excellent and it was on that 14th minute Paul Scholes made an amazing 25 yard curving drive. The match winner and a spectacular one too. For all of Barcelona’s endeavour, they could not muster up one the outstanding Paul Scoles did: a goal. United deserved to win the match. Barcelona may want to claim differently, but if they can’t finish then they don’t deserve it. Their attacking players could learn something by watching Scholesy.

Here’s the video of his magnificent goal!

Magnificent Manchester United

It is only at the end of the season that I finally write again about football… and what a great season it has been.

As I previously predicted, this season was a lot closer than the last one. It has been gripping and there were times Chelsea could have got ahead of Manchester United, however they failed to do so and at a great cost [of the title] in the end.

Man. United have played great football almost each game. Along the way Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have shown that they are still two of the best players in the Premiership.

Red Devils!! (Part 2)

After a busy weekend, I finally got myself writing another entry..

It was a successful weekend for Manchester United. The gap was closed to 7 points and the pressure is mounting on Chelsea to keep hold of their lead.

It looks like an exciting close to the season for football fans. :-)

On top of that, Middlesbrough won!! :)

Red Devils!!

Manchester United took full advantage of their game in hand and closed the gap to 9 points. The pressure is really on Chelsea, the current Premiership leaders and defending champions, now to maintain their lead over Manchester United. It’s sure to be a close finish to the title race.

Hopefully, this is a sign that, regardless of whether Chelsea wins the Premiership or not this season, the next one will be closer from start to finish now that Manchester United are picking up their game and improving their consistency. This will make for a much more exciting league, like the days of old.

I just hope that my other favourite team, Middlesbrough FC, soon becomes consistent in a positive way, rather than the usual negative one. :)

Chelsea Don’t Care If You Hate Them

I meant to write again about Chelsea a lot sooner, but most of what’s been written in my favourite paper, metro, hasn’t been at the forefront of my mind of late.

Anyway… I was amused by article about Chelsea with some quotes from Michael Essien. He is quoted as saying, "The perception that we’re not popular because of the way we play or because of the way we conduct ourselves doesn’t bother us." Each to their own on the way Chelsea play; it gets them results with the team that they have.

Manchester United have closed the gap to 12 points and have a game in hand, so Chelsea need to be very concerned about the way they play. Their over-confident attitude could end up being their downfall.
