My lovely girlfriend and I went on holiday to Keswick recently. Keswick is a lovely town in the Lake District next to Lake Derwentwater. The Lake District is one of the most beautiful areas of England so it’s a must stop for anyone planning to visit England (forget London, polluted and not very English, really), or anyone living in England who hasn’t visited yet.
Here are a few of the photos we took while there. Unfortunately, I stupidly used the digital zoom on what would have otherwise been very nice photos so there are not as many as I would have liked to post.
In Lake Derwentwater, there is a beautiful island called Derwent Island and it’s possible to visit there by boat. There is a house being restored by the National Trust (although it is a private residence).
Somewhere between the lake and Keswick town centre, there is a lovely garden/park. It’s beautiful maintained… could one say it’s a traditional English country garden? Not only was it lovely but there are some nice views in the area. I recommend stopping by for a short walk around and then some relaxation.
Of course, when visiting Keswick, one can’t miss out on taking a walk along the River Derwent. Like the rest of the town and surrounding countryside, it’s incredibly beautiful and peaceful.
I’ll try to find some more good (or at least somewhat reasonable quality) photographs from our visit to Keswick. It was our first holiday together and one I’ll never forget.
